The letter is from a soldier at the military Fort Morgan, Sgt. Charles A. Krayl, and sent in 1866 to a women he had just met.
The sergeant had quickly fallen for the lady, and knowing that fate would soon tear them apart, he asked her to marry him. He wrote that he would be at the train station to see if she would stay for him instead of leaving.
