DENVER –  In celebration of the 100th anniversary of the National Park Service and 50th anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act, students of the Denver metro area have been offered free admission and lunch to the History Colorado Center in Denver. At the center, students can see and experience exhibits such as We  RMNP, Living West (featuring stories about Mesa Verde National Park and Colorado archaeology), Colorado Stories (featuring displays about Bent’s Fort and mining in Colorado), and more.

DENVER – The 9th annual DocuWest International Film Festival, produced by the Artful Journey School of Fine Arts, will be held May 11-15, 2016. History Colorado Center and the Sie FilmCenter will be partners to the film festival and will host the screenings. DocuWest will screen 48 feature-length, medium-length and short films. Several of the films will be making their Colorado Premieres.

DENVER – History Colorado Center will participate in the “National Youth Summit on Japanese American Incarceration in World War II,” an online outreach program organized by the Smithsonian’s National Museum of American History in partnership with the Japanese American National Museum. The event will take place Tuesday, May 17, 2016 (11am MST) and will link middle and high schools students from across the country in a webcast centered on this event and its lessons for today. History Colorado Center is one of four Smithsonian Affiliate organizations hosting regional youth summits with local activists, scholars, and youth.
